The Mughal Gardens

Manicured gardens, cascading fountains and royalty of Mughal empire are the words that best describe the three Mughal gardens of the region. Chashma Shahi, Nishat and Shalimar, these name reflect the passion of the emperors in making the gardens.

Shalimar Bagh is the contribution of Jehangir. Dedicated to his wife Nur Jehan, Shalimar is a beautiful garden. Sprawled over an area of 539 m by 182 m, the garden has the four terraces. Out of theses four, one was reserved for the ladies of the palace and was the best.

Located on the banks of the Dal Lake, Nishat Bagh is amazingly beautiful. With the Zabarwan Mountains in the backdrop, Nishat was designed by brother of Nur Jehan in 1633 AD.

The third one is Chashma Shahi. This beautifully laid garden is the evidence that the people who created the garden had a royal taste. The highlight of the garden is the cool spring water, which is refreshing and digestive.

Pari Mahal.

This former Buddhist monastery is now a garden. Rich history and beauty of the garden allure tourists from all over the world. The garden looks amazingly beautiful at night.

Wular Lake

A combination of few words can not describe the beauty of Wular Lake. Counted amongst largest fresh water lakes in Asia, Wular is mysterious after every few miles. It keeps changing its shape and character and thus, provides different experiences in single cruise.

Dal Lake

This is one of the most amazing attractions in Kashmir. In summers, it offers you a chance to cruise in Shikara. In winters, Dal lake offers you a chance to live your dreams of walking on the water.

This Heaven on the earth has many attractions more to visit. The list starts from the above mentioned and has no end. Some other names in the list include Manasbal lake, Aharbal waterfall, Verinag etc.
